Hotel Management

National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology (Society) was set up in the year 1982 by Govt. of India as an autonomous body for coordinated growth and development of hospitality management education in the country.Initially, the Council was set up in the name of National Board of Studies in Food Management, Catering & Nutrition under the administrative control of Ministry of Agriculture (Deptt. of Food) and subsequently it was transferred to Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India in the year 1984 with renaming as National Council for Hotel Management & Catering Technology.

To gain admission to hotel management programs in India, aspiring students must take the National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology Joint Entrance Examination (NCHMCT JEE), which assesses aptitude in areas like English, reasoning, general knowledge, and numerical ability.

What is NCHMCT JEE?

It's a national-level entrance exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission to various undergraduate programs in hospitality and hotel management.

The exam is used to shortlist candidates for admission to 21 central Institutes of Hotel Management (IHMs), 25 state IHMs, one Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) IHM, and 24 private IHMs.

What does the exam cover?

English Language: Assesses proficiency in grammar, vocabulary, and comprehension.

Reasoning and Logical Deduction: Evaluates problem-solving and analytical skills.

General Knowledge and Current Affairs: Tests awareness of current events and general knowledge.

Numerical Ability and Analytical Aptitude: Assesses mathematical skills and aptitude for data analysis.

Aptitude for the Service Sector: Evaluates suitability for a career in the hospitality industry.

How to prepare for the exam?

Understand the syllabus and exam pattern: Familiarize yourself with the topics covered and the types of questions asked.

Make short notes and identify strengths and weaknesses: Focus on areas where you need improvement.

Practice previous papers and mock tests: Simulate the exam environment and assess your performance.
